30-09-2022

The EU-HPP Yunnan Low-carbon Schools pilot project team recently announced the names of the 29 centers that have been distinguished as "Pioneer Low-carbon Schools". The name of "Top 10 Schools in 2021" has also been known. Fundación Pueblo para Pueblo has been developing this project since 2020 in China, with funding from the European Union and the collaboration of an outstanding group of local organizations.

After the names were made public, the team visited each center to award them recognition and hold the work and follow-up meeting scheduled every six months.

During these meetings, for example, the head of Yihuiyuan Primary School, Hou Li, suggested that the project should organize the procurement of awareness materials in a unified way, in order to be more efficient and achieve considerable savings. It will also allow greater collaboration between the schools themselves.

Hou Li also proposed promoting exhibitions in the centers through information panels related to environmental protection, generation of greenhouse gas emissions, carbon footprint, global warming and consequences of climate change.
