Visit of EU ambassador in China to Humana project in Yunnan

Last week, the European Union Ambassador in China, Jorge Toledo, visited the Low Carbon Pioneer Schools project that Humana Fundación Pueblo para Pueblo carries out in the Chinese province of Yunnan, in partnership with several local organizations and funding by EU.

During his visit, Toledo learned first-hand about the work in progress of the project, which will culminate at the end of this year. The project involves more than 600 schools in Yunnan and more than 70,000 people, including students, parents, teachers and other members of the educational community.

Together with Toledo, Daniel Hachez, Head of Cooperation participated in the visit. He is from the European Union Delegation to Thailand, the Delegation which the projects developed in China depend on.

During this visit Rafael Mas, Humana Projects and Institutional Relations Manager, Ana Ramos, EU Affairs, Institutional Relations and Resource Mobilization Specialist, and Michael Hermann, Humana People to People's China representative, together with other staff members, showed the work that is being implemented in Yunnan.

During this week, several meetings with the project local partners are scheduled, these include:

  • Yunnan Academy of Science and Technical Information (YASTI), through its Clean Development Mechanism Center (CDMC)
  • South West Forestry University (SWFU)
  • KGDPWC Kunming Good Deed Public Welfare Community Development Service Center
  • KEPSA Kunming Environmental science Association

At the same time, last week a visit to one of the preschools and one of the universities participating in the initiative was planned.
