The Yunnan Low Carbon Schools project has carried out various awareness and training activities this past quarter, two of the cornerstones of the action. The People for People Foundation has been developing this project since 2020 in China, with funding from the European Union and the collaboration of an outstanding group of local organizations.

For example, 200 early childhood education teachers from 30 different schools have participated in different training sessions on carbon footprint reduction, climate change, actions to mitigate the consequences of global warming and energy saving.

At the same time, awareness campaigns have been promoted in which more than 10,000 students have participated. The campaigns have consisted of activities around Earth Day, the identification of carbon emission sources or what it means to be carbon neutral.

In addition, the monitoring and measurements of the carbon footprints of the schools participating in the project have continued. During the last three months, 75 schools have presented their measurements corresponding to their carbon footprint for 2020 and 35, their figures for 2021.

At the same time, a pilot test has been carried out in 21 schools, consisting of the implementation of different measures to reduce their emissions.
