Humana opens a vintage store in Plaza de San Miguel, in Madrid

Humana has inaugurated a new sustainable fashion store in Madrid today. It is a space dedicated entirely to vintage clothing, shoes and accessories. It is located in Plaza de San Miguel, 7, in front of the emblematic market of the same name, next to Plaza Mayor.

The store has 160 square meters of commercial space and a capacity of between 4,000 and 5,000 garments. It is the 26th Humana store in Madrid and the 49th in all of Spain.

Last year the Foundation's stores registered 2.4 million customers, who purchased 6.2 million items of clothing. According to a recent report by the European Recycling Industries Confederation (EuRIC), reuse is better for the environment than producing new garments, and in most cases better than recycling as well.

Of course, the degree to which the environmental impact of reusing is less than producing a new garment depends on replacement rates.

In the case of Humana and Spain, it is 70%, that is, 7 out of 10 customers of Humana stores declare that when they buy a second-hand item they stop buying a new item.
