This project promoted in collaboration with local partner Yunnan Institute of Development (YID) has several lines of action, which include agricultural development, nutrition, boosting new sources of income for the community and the revitalization of education preschool.
The project is aimed at the whole population of Yuanyang, the county in which Shalatuo is because they all participate in it directly or indirectly. The initiatives undertaken around agriculture is the creation of so-called farmers' club, which is expected to attend a total of between 2,500 and 3,000 farmers.
For Shalatuo, the work done in the fields made model has yielded a productivity improvement of 30% in maize and 20% in rice. It has also been driven cardamom cultivation and breeding of pigs through a revolving loan program. This is allowing for increased community income, resulting in the progress of the same.
On the other hand, they have launched five public baths and a score of landfills for the storage and management of waste from the comunidad. In addition, they have created seven schools for 195 children who hitherto had no access to the education because it is a very isolated area.
