The City of Seville, through LIPASAM Empresa Municipal de Limpieza Pública, has awarded the service of collection of used clothing to Humana Fundación Pueblo para Pueblo.

The four-year contract with LIPASAM includes the installation of a total of 462 containers on public roads, which are joined by those located in four clean points of the Andalusian capital. The containers are gray and include the Humana logos and the municipal company itself.

The deployment of this container network took place throughout the month of January. It has been a large logistics operation by Humana, given the high number of containers, the deadlines set in the contract and the desire to start the service as soon as possible.

Transfer plant in Alcalá de Guadaíra

The garments deposited by the Sevillians and Sevillanas in the Humana containers are transferred to the transfer plant of the Foundation in Alcalá de Guadaíra, in the province of Seville, from where they are transported to their plants for preparation for reuse in Madrid and Barcelona.

Humana has already provided the selective textile collection service in Seville until 2015, recovering annually an average of more than one million kg of textile. According to Andrés Lagares, Unit Manager Textile Collection in Andalusia of the Foundation, “we are very satisfied because we return to Seville, willing to offer the best service, as we did until 2015. In addition, the response of citizens in these first weeks is being Frankly positive, thus demonstrating its confidence in our model of sustainable textile management, with a clear social purpose ”.

Recently the Foundation has also been awarded the textile collection service of Alcorcón (Community of Madrid).
