The 3C Program – Cultivating Climate and Community, with a 10-year track record, is one of the beneficiaries of the BBVA Future 2025 Solidarity Call, an initiative by the banking entity that supports projects with a positive social and environmental impact. This excellent news will allow the launch of a new urban garden in Ciempozuelos this summer, the fifth in the Community of Madrid.
Humana submitted the urban agroecology project in the municipality of Ciempozuelos to the BBVA Future Solidarity Call, which is open to non-profit organizations. The bank has decided to support 23 projects with a total funding of one million euros.
“As every year, we select truly relevant social projects. In this edition, we did so thanks to the involvement of more than 200 employees from BBVA and BBVA Asset Management, who evaluated over 200 submitted proposals,” the organizers stated.
In the six previous editions, the BBVA Future Solidarity Call has made more than 120 projects a reality across Spain, channelling 5.2 million euros in direct support and positively impacting more than 460,000 people, according to the organizers. These figures will be joined by the 23 projects receiving one million euros in this year’s edition, which will have a direct impact in 16 Spanish provinces.
The 3C Program has received a donation of 35,000 euros, covering 85% of the cost of the future urban garden in Ciempozuelos. The project begins on August 1st and ends in July of next year. It is expected that users or activists will start activities in September.
The 3C Program aims to transform degraded urban spaces into ecological gardens managed by groups at risk of social exclusion, seniors, youth, families, and, in general, anyone interested in growing their own food in an environmentally respectful way.
The initiative promotes social cohesion, female leadership, and the mitigation of climate change effects. It includes workshops on various topics such as infrastructure training, efficient water management, nutrition, climate change, and biodiversity, among others.
Currently, the project has urban gardens in 8 municipalities:
