Award For Humana’s Contribution To Sustainability

CompromisoRSE and Custommedia, a media group that publishes specialist publications on sustainability, have recognised Humana at the ‘Sustainability Day 2026’ event as one of the best ‘Sustainability Actions’ of the year. The event took place at the Reina Sofía National Art Centre Museum in Madrid. Humana had already received this award four years ago.
Rafael Mas, Director of Projects and Institutional Relations at Humana, accepted the award, which was granted in recognition of the launch of our preparation plant for reuse in Leganés (Madrid), which opened in October 2025.
The Leganés plant is one of the largest sorting centres for second-hand clothing and footwear in Spain. It has a total paved area of 25,713 m², including an open-plan hall with 14,972 m² of usable covered space dedicated to sorting and storage. It is home to a team of over 210 people. Current capacity stands at 10,000 tonnes per year of sorted textile waste, with the potential to double production.
The event took place on Tuesday 27 October in auditoriums 400 and 200 at the Reina Sofía National Art Centre. Sustainability Day 26 brought together senior executives, representatives of organisations and experts from various sectors to analyse the environmental, social and technological challenges of the present and the future.
At this event, as in previous years, awards were presented to the best ‘Sustainability Actions 2026’ with environmental and social impact, carried out by all kinds of stakeholders (companies, start-ups, foundations, non-governmental organisations, public administrations, academic and educational institutions, etc.) in recognition of their commitment to sustainability and the sustainable development of society and the planet.
Second award
In 2022, Humana was recognised as one of the best ‘Sustainability Actions 22’ for its contribution to the reuse of clothing, specifically for being able to give a second life to more than 90 per cent of the used textiles we collect.
