Pepco and Humana's campaign to promote sustainable management of used textiles recovers 7,500 garments

Pepco and Humana's campaign to promote sustainable management of used textiles with social impact has recovered 2.5 tonnes, equivalent to 7,500 garments. The initiative, which took place between September and October, consisted of collecting used textiles at 10 Pepco stores in Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante and Malaga. By donating at least three items of clothing in good condition, customers received a €5 discount voucher for purchases over €20 at Pepco stores.


This is the third time that Pepco and Humana have carried out a similar campaign, reflecting the commitment and strength of their collaboration and setting a good example of social responsibility on both sides. Pepco offers a wide range of products for the whole family in its stores, from clothing and footwear to toys, home décor and stationery.


Humana will manage the recovered textiles to ensure they are used to their full potential, prioritising reuse and generating maximum environmental and social value.


‘At least 2,000 Pepco customers donated an average of 3.5 kilos of clothing during the campaign,‘ says Rafael Mas, Director of Projects and Institutional Relations at Humana, who points out that ’in 2024 we carried out a similar campaign, also in 10 stores, and now we have collected 1.2 tonnes more".


As part of the initiative, and as a result of Pepco's social commitment to children and Humana's mission, in 2024 Pepco made a donation to an educational project in Mozambique, specifically to the Nhamatanda Primary School Teachers' Training College, promoted by ADPP Mozambique, Humana's counterpart in the African country.


‘Working together helps to raise awareness among Pepco's customers of the importance of giving a second life to textiles they no longer need and facilitates the generation of funds for international cooperation in the field of childhood,’ says Rafael Mas.
