Humana certified by Mepex for the third consecutive year

23-12-2025

For the third consecutive year, Humana has been awarded Mepex certification, which guarantees the traceability of textile waste processed at our preparation for reuse (PxR) plants in Leganés (Madrid) and l'Ametlla del Vallès (Barcelona).

This recognition reinforces the organisation's commitment to transparency, the circular economy and responsible waste management. The certificate is accompanied by the Textile Transparency Report, which confirms that 61% of the textile waste processed by Humana is reused as second-hand products, both in Spain and globally. This result reflects the Foundation's firm commitment to reuse, in line with the European Union's Waste Hierarchy.

About Mepex Consult AS

Mepex Consult AS is a Norwegian consultancy firm specialising in circular economy and waste management, which has been producing reports for organisations and companies in the textile sector since 2016.

Its methodology verifies that the quantities processed in the different flows (local reuse, global reuse, recycling, energy recovery and final disposal) match the quantities received and marketed by specialised operators, thus ensuring complete traceability.

The final destination of the garments sorted at PxR plants is as follows:

  • 61% is destined for reuse.
  • 30.5% is destined for recycling.
  • 8.5% are textiles destined for final disposal or unsuitable non-textile waste.
