Humana Fundación Pueblo para Pueblo received an award at the EMAS Catalonia 2025 Awards ceremony, which aims to recognise the work that EMAS organisations carry out in favour of the environment and environmental quality. The event, held in Barcelona, was presided over by the Minister for Territory, Silvia Paneque.
Humana was recognised in the category of companies or organisations that have been with EMAS for more than 10 years. ‘The EMAS certificate is important for our organisation because it demonstrates our serious and transparent commitment to environmental management and, beyond complying with regulations, encourages continuous improvement in environmental performance,’ said sources at Humana.
EMAS stands for Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, a voluntary management tool for companies and other organisations that allows them to assess, improve and publicise their environmental performance.
The EMAS Catalonia Awards are presented every two years and recognise the best actions taken by companies and organisations that have EMAS certification, an environmental management and audit system within the framework of the European Union. The ceremony was held in the Auditorium of the Administrative District of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
The EMAS Catalonia Awards are an initiative of the EMAS Club with the support of the Government of Catalonia. The aim of these awards is to encourage improvement in the EMAS environmental management system and to provide an opportunity for innovation in communication and interaction with the various stakeholders. These awards, which have been held every two years since 2014, seek to recognise the best actions carried out by EMAS organisations.
The EMAS Club is a private, non-profit association made up of companies and other organisations from different sectors and of different sizes that share a common desire for environmental improvement, which is reflected in their participation in the European Community's environmental management and audit scheme (EMAS), the scope of which includes at least one centre located in Catalonia.
In this edition, the winners of the EMAS Catalonia 2025 Award in its four categories were:
In addition, awards were presented to organisations with more than 10 years of EMAS registration (such as Humana) and those celebrating more than 20 years. New accredited organisations were also welcomed.
