On Thursday 8 May, Humana officially inaugurates the new phase of its flagship shop in Madrid dedicated to second-hand fashion. Opened 13 years ago, the organisation has now extended the shop located at Calle de Alcalá, 171, with a first floor.
The social economy organisation is thus reinforcing its commitment to a sector that is in love with the public, especially the younger ones: it has 30 shops in the capital, last year it exceeded 1.5 million customers for the first time and the prestige of an activity that overcomes the prejudices it has carried with it for decades is increasing all the time.
Humana's flagship shop in Madrid spreads its 325 m2 of sales area over two floors (almost double the average area of the rest of the company's establishments, which is 186 m2). Refurbished in line with the organisation's new image, with a renovated and carefully designed interior offering a better experience for customers, ‘this space aims to be one of the epicentres of second-hand fashion in Madrid’, says Rubén González, Retail Strategy Manager at Humana, who adds: ‘81,000 customers passed through this shop last year’.
‘On average, we have an offer of 4,700 items per shop, from clothing to shoes and accessories. In this case, we offer 7,600’, González specifies. Humana, the leading second-hand fashion shop operator in Spain by number of customers, has 30 second-hand fashion shops in Madrid (54 in Spain), with a total sales area of 5,700 m² (10,000 m² in the whole of Spain).
At the opening ceremony on Thursday 8 May, Humana will bring together personalities from the world of fashion and textiles, customers, representatives of institutions and content creators, among others, to celebrate the fact that the store at 171 Alcalá Street ‘is a faithful reflection of a new and growing way of relating to fashion, through reused garments that have a huge positive impact on both the environment and society’, according to the organisation's representative.
