Supermercados masymas (Hijos de Luis Rodríguez, S.A.) has made a donation of €13,304 to the Vinjoy Foundation, the result of collecting more than 228 tonnes of used clothing deposited by customers in Asturias since 2021 in containers installed in its supermarkets in collaboration with Humana.
Since 2021, the masymas chain has had 22 containers for the selective collection of used clothing, managed by Humana and distributed in different supermarkets. For every kilo collected, Humana allocates a sum of money to a social cause chosen by masymas , in this case the Vinjoy Foundation. This collaboration has enabled masymas customers to actively participate in a circular economy project that combines environmental sustainability and local solidarity.
The Vinjoy Foundation, with more than 100 years of history, is dedicated to education and social care, with a special focus on people with hearing impairments (deafness) and on caring for children and young people, using education as a tool for inclusion and social justice to offer them opportunities and development.
Commitment to Asturias
The handover ceremony, held at the Vinjoy Foundation's facilities in Oviedo. During the event, Silvia Pombo from Humana emphasised that ‘textile reuse is a powerful tool for generating positive environmental and social impact, and the collaboration with masymas is an example of how local companies can actively contribute to this change’.
‘The Vinjoy Foundation has been helping people in need for over a century. At Hijos de Luis Rodríguez, we want to help them continue doing so. We share values such as solidarity, closeness and commitment to our land, and that is why it is an honour to present them with this donation,’ said Eva Rodríguez from masymas .
Isis González, from the Vinjoy Foundation, expressed his gratitude for the contribution and highlighted that the funds will be used for transport and meal subsidies for the beneficiaries of its social programmes.
