Community development

The action is being implemented in 20 targeted townships in the Westrand district (Gauteng) and Durban (KwaZulu-Natal). The specific objective is to empower youth from 20 townships in Westrand and Durban to improve their life skills, participate in communities and positively contribute to their communities’ development through arts and culture.

Activities are mainly in dance, music, poetry, drama and theater. So far drama and dance are the most popular. Both boys and girls participate and are between the ages of 16-35.

Program implementation involves Humana People to People South Africa, Gauteng Organisation of Community Arts and Culture Centres (GOMACC) and the University of Girona, through its UNESCO Chair.
